well do I have projects that super mega cool to watch?... not that many, but I hope these are good enough...

displaced

Displaced is an effort to create a game experience by using non linearity concepts inside a game. With my final project partners, we used non-linear narrative concepts, as opposed of non-linear gameplay concepts. Our idea is based from hyper-comic projects by many experimental comic artists like Daniel Merlin Goodbrey's Tarquin engine projects, and from non-linear projects like the novel "Hopscotch" by Julio Cortázar. The intention is to apply these types of non-linear propositions in a videogame format in the best way possible.

We consider this game an experiment, and like any experiment, it may fail. However we feel confident enough to show this game and to verify if we achieved our goal of making different interpretations from different people, of the same game.

Displaced can be found here. Or you can play it online (Yoyogames InstantPlay) here.

the neverending wall

as the name says it, the neverending wall consists of a... neverending wall :). In it you can upload images, swfs, or buttons (which you can program so when you click on them you go to another place in the wall). Entirely created in Flex 3 and using Weborb for the AMF protocol.

There are lots of things that need to be redone, and many other things to tweak and add. Because of the university, with other 800 projects to do, it is very difficult to come up with something nicely done. However its usable and you can go and upload images, swfs or buttons anytime you want... as long as the server its still up and running, and if the server quota doesn't fill up :) (Since its a free hosting service, I can't guarantee to keep it working all the time)

Nevertheless, I think it has some good potencial to keep developing it.

tower to the moon

The objective is simple: to build a tower that gets to the moon.

The game mechanic is also simple: You need to pile up objects until you reach a certain limit determined in each level. Also, you have to keep the tower stable in that limit for a certain amount of time. I you make it, you will go to the next level.

Everything done in Actionscript 3 and APE (A physics engine for Flash and Flex). At the moment it has 11 levels, and a leaderboard system calculating your score in terms of how much it took you to edn the game. Hopefully one day with more time, I can add more features to the game.

You can find the gamehere.

project: rez the clone
i did this small demo for a class in University. What's interesting about it is that i finished it in about 4-5 days because i didn't know I had to present an "interactive project", until there was well... only 5 days to deadline... however I really liked how this one turned out, it has many cool things I though I couldn't even implement in such short time, particularly the fact that you can create a complete different world by only adjusting the xml world file.

You can find the installerhere.

For this project I made a video, its not a big deal, in fact, it doesn't have the best quality. But i hope you like it.

batalla

battle. Thanks to this game I won a Videogame Programming contest, "National Electronic Arts contest 2004 Show Room Intel". I won a computer, which I'm still using today :).

You can find the executable here.

Here is a small image gallery, if you wish to see the game without downloading it.

Oops, it appears that you don't have Flash at the moment. You need to install it in order to see the gallery.

I also have a small video for this game if you want to watch:

industria de luz - lina cantillo

a while ago, I worked for industria de luz, a company that has varoius clientes, including the Soho magazine, to help to optimize and automate the company main web page, and the lina cantillo web page, an industria de luz's client.

Both projects work over AS 2.0, using XML to update images and text found throughtout the flash projects. Dramatically improving the bandwith used and the file size of the web pages from 5Mb to 3kb aproximately.

You can find each web page right here:

mechanic life

a small personal project using Flash, nothing absolutely spectacular, but here I experimented a bit with Flash and all that. Used AS 2.0, right now I am practicing with AS 3.0 so I can show you more solid projects than this one, but for now, please enjoy.

You can find the sitehere.

Well... that's it for now... stay tuned for more projects underway
